Global Education Emergencies Support Initiatives, (GEESI) is non-governmental, not-for-profit, non- political and non- religious organization founded in July, 2016 as a CBO and fully registered with the state as an NGO in 2017 and with CAC in 2018. GEESI has 13 staff (5 female and 8 male) and 7 volunteers comprising 3 females and 4 males. GEESI works in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states. GEESI thematic area include; conflict resolution, peace and security, democracy and good governance, education, Health, Food, Peace building, Life Skills, Psychosocial, Economic Development, Women and Youth Empowerment, reconstruction and rehabilitation of return crises areas, water and Agriculture in affected areas. GEESI has ten (10) Board Members (3 female and 7 male). GEESIās target groups are youth, women, traditional/religious leaders and faith based organisations, GEESI reaches out to vulnerable populations particularly children, youth and women in conflict spots and regions on the basis of their need irrespective and regardless of their creed, religion, ethics tribe and region political affiliation, age or gender.
GEESI stakeholders includes; Parent, Community leaders (District Heads Lawan), Market Women Association, vulnerable ?, Mothers Associations, School Head Teachers, Principals, Local government Councils, Sectional Heads, Elected Members and Councilors, SUBEB, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Women Affairs, local Government Education Authority (LEA), Ministry of Budget and Planning. GEESI has, to date, worked in 21 LGAs of Adamawa State.
MISSION
I. To support, give hope and create an enabling environment for Orphans and vulnerable children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS
II. To promote effective conflict resolution through workshops/training and community hall discussions on conflict management among returned communities
III. To support establishment, reactivation of school based management committees (SBMC) and mothers associations in affected areas
IV. To support people living with disability
V. To promote girls education through training on skills acquisition
VI. To work on Gender based Violence awareness
VII. To provide Agricultural Support to the needy
VIII. To work on Livelihood.
VISION
We envisage Children, Women and Youth in humanitarian Emergencies and conflict areas have access to Education, Health, Peace, Food, Safe, Agriculture, Life Skills and Gender based Violence awareness.
